Things I Have Learnt

  • It makes getting older easier if we gain wisdom as well as wrinkles. I found these sage words on the net and thought I would post them for your perusal. Feel free to add your own advice.

    1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

    2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

    3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone....

    4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

    5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

    6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

    7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

    8. Its OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

    9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

    10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

    11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

    12. Its OK to let your children see you cry.

    13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

    14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

    15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

    16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

    17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

    18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

    19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

    20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

    21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

    22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

    23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

    24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

    25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

    26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words, 'In five years, will this matter?'

    27. Always choose life.

    28. Forgive everyone everything.

    29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

    30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

    31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

    32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

    33. Believe in miracles.

    34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

    35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

    36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

    37. Your children get only one childhood.

    38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

    39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

    40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

    41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

    42. The best is yet to come.

    43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

    44. Yield.

    45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

    46. Next time you bump into someone, say 'Hello' and smile instead of saying 'Sorry'.

    47. Smile often. Even when you don't feel like it. The brain perceives all muscle movements as authentic.

  • thie next person you see that looks sad or at them and say hello, you could have a huge impact on that persons day.....and your day! the best feeling in the world! AND THANK YOU CAPTAIN F for starting this!

  • Hi TheCaptain!

Thank you for the enchanted evening!

I recently posted a fortune cookie saying --- "Life Is A Verb". Laugh, Dance & Sing your way thru, even metaphoricaly!

Below, is a poem entitled Warning. I found a print in my early thirties .... I am practicing daily

    ; > O)

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired

And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

And run my stick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

And pick flowers in other people's gardens

    And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

And eat three pounds of sausages at a go

Or only bread and pickle for a week

And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

And pay our rent and not swear in the street

And set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple

  • Brilliant! Thanks for posting.

  • One of the wisest people i will ever know taught me to put God first.

Where there is a will, There is a way.

That things always have a way of working out.

And as children we were taught to respect and honor our elders.

I didnt always agree with them(my elders) but no way would I backtalk and disrespect them.

Life really is just a vapor.

Don't waste one priceless moment of it!

    (and wear purple)! hugs! 🙂

  • I LOVE purple! When I am old I still never wear grey.

  • I am copying this list--fantastic. I add:

'God respects me when I work

But he loves me when I sing'

    Remember Joy...

There are two sayings which I always read whenever I'm down, one is by a spanish poet who's name I cannot remember:

"We are all cups filled to the brim, the trick is to tip yourself over and let all that beautiful stuff flow through."

"God sleeps in the Minerals, awakens in the Plants, walks in the Animals and thinks in You" --ancient Sanskrit saying.

  • Hello Captain & Everyone on this site......I'm just so excited this morning and had to share this with EVERYONE WHO WAITS.

We are all waiting and reading the questions we are asking psychics, its always about LOVE & WHEN will it happen......well, I got home yesterday and heard this absolutely catchy song by Michael Bubl'e...........I absolutely LOVE LOVE this song!!! I first heard it and it brought a HUGE smile to my face, it is so reminiscent to a time that we all CAN wait and hope for that NEW Love.

Captain I finally got it.......the Law of Attraction you were explaining to us is all about putting your intention out there, living like it's already happened and actually feeling it in your soul....that's when it really happens. This song is exactly that, someone who is excited about a love that has not happened yet, but looking forward to it with so much passion. I have copied and pasted the lyrics and hope everyone picks up from it what I did. I also downloaded it onto my cell phone so maybe you can too.

Michael Bubl'e : Haven't Met You Yet Lyrics

    I'm Not Surprised

    Not Everything Lasts

I've Broken My Heart So Many Times,

    I Stop Keeping Track.

    Talk Myself In

    I Talk Myself Out

    I Get All Worked Up

And Then I Let Myself Down.

I Tried So Very Hard Not To Loose It

I Came Up With A Million Excuses

I Thought I Thought Of Every Possibility

And I Know Someday That It'll All Turn Out

You'll Make Me Work So We Can Work To Work It Out

And I Promise You Kid That I'll Give So Much More Than I Get

I Just Haven't Met You Yet

    Mmmmm ....

    I Might Have To Wait

    I'll Never Give Up

    I Guess It's Half Timing

    And The Other Half's Luck

    Wherever You Are

    Whenever It's Right

You Come Out Of Nowhere And Into My Life

And I Know That We Can Be So Amazing

And Baby Your Love Is Gonna Change Me

And Now I Can See Every Possibility

    Mmmmm ......

And Somehow I Know That It Will All Turn Out

And You'll Make Me Work So We Can Work To Work It Out

And I Promise You Kid I'll Give So Much More Than I Get

I Just Haven't Met You Yet

    They Say All's Fair

    And In Love And War

But I Won't Need To Fight It

    We'll Get It Right

    And We'll Be United

And I Know That We Can Be So Amazing

And Being In Your Life Is Gonna Change Me

And Now I Can See Every Single Possibility

    Mmmm .....

And Someday I Know It'll All Turn Out

And I'll Work To Work It Out

Promise You Kid I'll Give More Than I Get

Than I Get Than I Get Than I Get

Oh You Know It'll All Turn Out

And You'll Make Me Work So We Can Work To Work It Out

And I Promise You Kid To Give So Much More Than I Get

Yeah I Just Haven't Met You Yet

I Just Haven't Met You Yet

    Oh Promise You Kid

To Give So Much More Than I Get

I Said Love Love Love Love Love Love Love .....

I Just Haven't Met You Yet

    Love Love Love .....

I Just Haven't Met You Yet

  • That's good positive thinking.

  • Gamby -- Thanks for posting Buble's song. I saw him sing it one morning on TV, but didn't actually catch all the words. I hope you don't mind, but i thought it so appropriate that I posted it elsewhere.

    Again, thanks for sharing it!
