Lunar /solar eclipse

Not a pro when it comes to astrology, I know a little bit.. just enough to make me ask questions.
We had a blue moon eclipse 12/31 & scheduled for a solar eclipse 1/15.
What is the significance of these specific eclipses? Tried to find info on the internet but it took me all over the place but not to what I wanted to find.
Couple of questions:
Lunar eclipse means endings & solar eclipses mean beginings?
What house are they falling in?
What kind of impact does this have since we are in a retrograde period(mars/mercury)
