  • Tarot de Marseille - Traditionally a Tarot deck that was used for Divination between 15th-18th century approx - there are some different thoughts re this idea of specialized imagery used as a game were also used for Divination - some of these decks were hand painted or doe by wood blocks . Tarot de Marseille decks were not named because of the Region Marseille but of their style . Christian Aspects were within the imagery of the Major Arcana .. the Minor Arcana known as pips were non-scenic ...

    There are many ways to read this deck, some readers use specific Marseille Meanings or will use Numerology with the suits .

    Next in 1909 Rider Waite traditionally but also called by other names like Rider Waite Smith , Smith-Waite etc ...
    Arthur E. Waite with Pamela Coleman Smith (fondly named Pixie) created this deck with some differences .. The Minor Arcana were created with scenery .. this added a new depth to the cards ...

    There is are basic keywords for each card and then adding the imagery and the thoughts of different readers you will find each card has many layers to it within a reading .... There are many modern decks based on This system , some will have similar imagery and some change the imagery drastically to make something unique ...

    Next we explore The Thoth ...
    This deck put together by Aleister Crowley with Lady Freida Harris . IN 1944 Aleister Crowley referred to his deck as The Book of Thoth - They both passed on (died ) before the publication of the deck and the Book in 1968 .... This deck carried many astrological, Kabalistic Esoteric aspects within the imagery and therefore normally recommended as an advanced readers deck .. There are variations of this deck. Some deck creators have also created their own version of this type of deck .. You will find the Minor Arcana are also classed as Pip style non-scenic cards.
    Thoth does have it 's own meanings within the cards and reads very differently than that of RWS or Marseille type decks.
