Thought I'd start a thread where any wise or meaningful sayings or quotations that have impressed or helped our forum members could be posted.
Here's mine: "The human soul is purged by the fear and compassion that tragedy evokes." Aristotle (gotta love those old philosophers)

"Stress is the perception of a threatening thought and if you don't identify with it, then there's no stress," Dr. Deepak Chopra says. "There's no such thing as peace of mind. That's an oxymoron. Peace is when there's absence of thought."
He recommends this breathing technique to quickly calm down: Put your hands in your arm pits. Slowly inhale to the count of four, then exhale to the count of four. Then switch the order of the hands in the armpits and repeat. This will slow down your heart rate and breathing, and help you relax.

@watergirl18
oh yes! I grew up hearing that one a lot.! There are so many wisdoms I only heard in Chicago. Someone from Chicago just sent me an ad for a tee shirt that said...YES BUT DID YOU DIE?. That was a Chicago response when someone started telling you their sob story. Also got a funny post about calling the John Jim so you could say you go to the Jim every morning. Where else do people call the bathroom the John? I definitely dropped that one when I moved to Florida.
