Hi Captain!

Hi Captain!
Hope you’re doing well. All is well here. I am celebrating my 7th year of recovery from my injuries and good health. We think we are expecting our first child and my dream job is on the horizon. Of course my wife is nervous about the timing, but I know we will be able to make the kid and flying work out. Just not sure if i should goto airline training in Jan or wait. do you have a feeling one way or the other? i don’t want to make a bad move and lose my career. thanks!!!
-
Wait for what?
-
@thecaptain wait until kid is born or push to finish building hours and start before baby is born. it’s nice having choices. thanks for all the help these past years
-
You have not confirmed the pregnancy yet? Then you should not give up your dream job, even when or if it is confirmed. Otherwise you might resent the child afterwards.
-
@thecaptain Oh it's confirmed
Thankfully my wife is pushing me to do my dream job; I just have a bunch of airlines recruiting me and our heads are spinning. I just want to be sure I make it through training, and make the right choice. Please keep me in your thoughts that I pick the right airline. Anymore words of wisdom? How are you doing?
-
@pilotguy You will go with the airline that will teach you the most - you cannot choose wrong.
I am very well and thriving, thank you.
-
@thecaptain do you see me making it trough training? it’s amazig to see all my dreams finally are coming true. thanks again.
-
@pilotguy You have the necessary skills to get through the training but you need the self-discipline and self-belief. If you had the self-belief, you wouldn't need to ask me whether you will succeed. You would just keep at it until you do.
-
@thecaptain I understand what you’re saying, and I know I am my own worst enemy with issues like this. I know if given the opportunity I will be successful. Sadly, my wife lost the baby, so we will try again.m at a later time. I won’t ask any more about my future just after this as I know I am qualified and good to go. Do you foresee and issues that may hurt my chances of being hired by the comapy I’m trying to get (the one near my home). Always worry my students will do something wrong or I overlooked an issue that can get my certificates suspended. Thank you so much for your help these past years. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for my career finally
-
@pilotguy Yes I do foresee an issue, but you have the fortitude and inner wisdom to overcome it - sheer persistence will help you prevail.
Sorry about the baby, but babies come when it is the right time.
-
@thecaptain Thanks so much. Do you have any idea that the issue might be? Whatever it is it doesn't appear to be a career killer. I am hoping to start training in Jan 2019, so hopefully all will be resolved by then. I owe you a plane ride
-
@pilotguy Haha do you do international flights, as I am in Australia?
I feel the issue will involve your qualifications or something to do with experience or training.
-
@thecaptain Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I can get though it with training. Can’t imagine what else it could be other than the difficulties of the training. Your insight has helped to keep me going and knowing i will get and succed at my dream career is a huge blessing.
-
I am going for my last flying physical in a month of so (hopefully less if i get an earlier appt) before starting training. If this one is good, then I am good to start. My issue that you saw, was that health related? If it's training related, I can handle that...lots of hard work and dedication. Thanks! Talk to you soon!!!
-
@pilotguy More training related.
-
@thecaptain Thank you for that. I am fully expecting training issues as it is a rough process; I am finally confident that I will make it through.
-
@pilotguy any insight what the training issues might be? I have a mentor at the airline and I want to be sure I pass training. Thanks!!!!
-
@pilotguy I don't know enough about the technical aspects of flying to tell you.
By the way, we have a pilot shortage down here in Australia if you are ever interested.
-
@thecaptain My company and a few others are hiring Aussies. shortage is bad here, too. Do you see me staying with this company for years? i’m anticipating training issues in the simulator as everyone has them.
-
@pilotguy Just take one day at a time, PG. You have always been worried about the future, to the extent that you may be missing opportunities in the present right under your nose. Focus on getting through what is happening now!
