Has anyone done automatic writing?
I would like to hear about automatic writing
This is something I have been meaning to give a go to myself. Haven't actually tried myself yet, but certainly will in the very near future. I read a good book years ago that was written by automatic writing, it was God channeling through this man and answering questions and giving information. I wish I could remember the name of it, I loaned it to someone who needed it at the time and never got it back. I will keep trying to find that info on the book, I think it's time I re-read that particular book!
I have looked up a little info for you which may or may not be helpful.......
How to Practice Automatic Writing
Automatic writing is an old form of divination in which messages seem to come out of nowhere through your hand and onto paper. Whether these messages come from the "spirit world" or the subconscious in unknown. Some who have attempted this form of mediumship have written lengthy messages, songs -- even complete novels.
Difficulty Level: Hard Time Required: 15 minutes to an hour
1. Find a quiet spot without distractions.
2. Sit at a table or desk where you'll be comfortable, with paper and pen (or pencil).
3. Take a few moments to clear your mind.
4. Touch the pen or pencil to the paper.
5. Try not to consciously write anything.
6. While keeping your mind as clear as possible, let your hand write whatever comes across.
7. Avoid looking at the paper; you might even keep your eyes closed.
8. Give it time to happen (nothing might happen for quite a while).
9. When it seems to be done, if and when automatic writing does occur, look over what your
hand has produced carefully. The writing may appear to be nonsense or just scribbling, but
try to decipher it as best as possible.
10. In addition to letters and numbers, look for pictures or symbols in the writing as well.
11. Keep trying. Nothing might happen your first few attempts.
12. If you start to achieve success, you can try asking questions to see if you can receive
1. There is no guarantee that automatic writing will work for you, but don't give up if it doesn't
work the first few times. Give it a chance.
2. Be aware of psychological dangers. Some messages that come across might be
disturbing. If you're at all not able to handle this possibility, don't attempt automatic writing.
I also found a very good article on the California Psychics website (they have some really interesting and informative newsletters and articles)
Automatic Writing - Use it to channel your inner voice
by Martine Jeanne Craughley
In the spooky latter weeks of Fall, the spirit realms begin to gain force. The veil between the seen and unseen is tissue thin, and the spirit world is well, unusually spirited. It's the perfect time to try automatic writing (writing in a light trance) to connect either with your higher self, your inner wisdom, or a spirit guide.
This writing will be as varied as the spirits you connect with. You may find yourself able to draw things you've never imagined, write in a foreign tongue, set out lines of fantastic symbols. Or it may come as straightforward advice from your higher self on how to make your dreams come true. The main thing is to stay open to the experience and try not to control what you receive. Let it happen and then analyze it afterwards.
First and most importantly, find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed for 10 to 30 minutes. Then choose a pen and a notebook, preferably brand new, that you will use only for automatic writing. If you have a burning subject you want information on, be clear and focused on this question before you begin.
Next, light sage or incense to clear the air of unwanted influences and to sanctify the space. It's very important to take a moment to pray for protection, either from God, angels, your guardian spirit, or whatever beneficent force you are comfortable with. Take time to truly connect with this divine energy and to get a sense that you've been given permission to go ahead.
Then, take 10 very deep, slow breaths of air, drawing it in and letting it release without strain or effort. Repeat until you've reached a deep sense of relaxation (but don't slip away into sleep). Once in a relaxed, light trance, ask your guide (or inner wisdom, or whoever you'd like to call upon) to move the pen in your hand across the page.
Unless you're a born medium, it often takes three sessions to get your hand in tune with the subtle energies of the spirit - and to keep your chattering conscious mind quiet. If your hand is making meaningless squiggles, let it. With any new activity, it takes time and practice to get it right. At some point, you'll feel as if an unseen hand has taken the pen - it will gain purposefulness and speed. And you'll know without a doubt that you've made contact.
Remember that you can set your intention to receive messages about your job or your relationship, but just like any conversation, the spirit will sometimes have its own agenda. Don't be disappointed if the conversation veers to a subject important to the spirit. Once it's spoken, he or she will focus on your questions.
Automatic writing is a fantastic way to develop your knowledge and abilities beyond the ordinary possibilities of daily life. You will have access to an extraordinary fountian of knowledge.
I have been doing automatic writing for sometime, I have been told that I am the one doing the channeling for the person who is trying to contact the spirit. I have done this with people all my life.
That is such a wonderful gift! I think it is wonderful that you have a way of being able to help others and get across important messages. I have such desire to help and be of service but haven't figured out my gift yet. I guess all is revealed when the time is right!! At least I tell myself that because I am feeling terribly impatient about my future direction LOL!!!!!
Have you had any other medium experiences or has it been limited to the automatic writing? Have all the automatic writing experiences been positive or have there also been some negative instances?
I have gone to psychic fairs and have done writings for people, however they hold the pen and I hold hold their hand with the pen, I have been told I am the medium.
Ok, I get you now. So you hold their hand, the message flows through you and onto the paper. I haven't head of it being done that way before, but that doesn't mean anything!!!!!! I wonder whether you would be able to develop that in different ways to receive the message without having to write while holding the other persons hand, I imagine that would not be the most comfortable way to go about it.
Well lovely to meet you Oldsoul5, I hope that someone with more knowledge/experience in this area sees you post and can speak with you.
Thanks for sharing with me.
Most have been positve, some are sad, the majority have made people feel better about their loved ones. I really enjoy seeing the writings, sometimes the old style of the letters and the way words are put together and the spelling of words.
this sounds really cool. I've never done it, maybe not much of a psychic. but yeah I wish I know someone like that, who can do a reading for me eeerrr writing
I just bought a automatic writing kit!!! I haven't used it yet though..I'm a little scurred Not sure If I will tell myself off or not ha!
I might wait till Samhain (halloween) since that is considered our (Wiccan) new year adn the veil is thinnest then so who knows who I might talk to!
Oldsoul5....does it happen to work with people who are still living. I was just wondering if you woudl be able to give an insight on a issue I am having between my male friend and I. We had a an arguement and wondering if we are ever going ot be friends again. I dont know if it works that way wiht you or not.
I have never had a response from living people. My grandson was seeing ghosts, this is when he was 8 yrs old. He was also playing lots of war games on his play station. His mom and I became quit concerned when he started seeing things that was scaring him and dueling on it. He was so stressed out and scared. They came to see me, and we did some writing, with me holding his hand while he held the pen. The pen started writing, and I asked who we were speaking to, the pen wrote 'Wilbert' I asked my grandson to ask questions to him, and he did, the pen was writing the answers to his questions, telling him he was his spiritual quide and how to stop all the negative things that were scaring him. When we were finished, my grandson said he felt as if a large weight had been lifted from him. He is 10 now, and and doing fine. They live 800 miles from me and we talk every week. and he knows if he ever needs to talk to 'Wilbert' he can.
