March's Pisces new Moon is an extraordinarily Piscean event, with planetary energy starting with Neptune on the 4th degree all the way to Mars on the very last degree. Occuring on March 12 in Australia and March 11 in the United States, the line up is Neptune, Mercury, Chiron Venus, the new Moon (Sun and Moon) and Mars, all in Pisces. The energy has been quite amazing lately, quite dreamy, inspirational and insightful as well as confused and chaotic and all over the place.
Whether the energy has us swimming or sinking, we are being asked to take a look around at what's happening in our lives. What rules, laws, guidelines, articles of faith, moral guides, codes of living, etc, are alive and well in your life?
The following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom ~
The new Moon is on Pisces 22: A Prophet Bringing Down The New Law From The Mountain
'A Prophet Bringing Down the New Law From The Mountain’ pictures revelations concerning spirit and truth being delivered through the agency of a single individual, the ‘Prophet’. This message, this ‘New Law’ can be “brought down” orally or in written form in order to be given to the people. ‘Laws’ relate to the culture of the time and will vary as technology and society changes, but the ‘Prophet’ is able to manifest ‘Laws’ that will apply not just for his time, but also for times to come.
There is a ‘New Law’ being brought ‘Down From the Mountain’ and it is important to make it manifest and integrated into everyday existence. This Symbol can show people watching and waiting for what someone has to say, as if it will change their lives in some way. However, in this day and age it is important not to take what people say as “gospel” without considering your own beliefs and thoughts and whether these ‘New Laws’ ring true to your inner being. Beliefs are something that can bring people together, but they can also just as easily tear people apart. Being asked, or forced, to take on new beliefs or codes of living or being can be confronting. This Symbol can also indicate things being acted out in “biblical proportions”, with huge fanfare and importance placed on them, and this may be a good thing, but only you will know whether these apply to you in your life. Misuse of messages for the personal gain of the one who’s seen as the ‘Prophet’ can lead to alienation and a loss of faith. Although the principles of ‘Law’ may stay the same, it is the specifics that must vary in order to accommodate the changing perceptions of the times. It is wonderful if the message resonates with you, but if it doesn’t you should be able to choose another code for living.
Keywords: Revelations and channeling of new information. Truths being revealed. Thoughts, ideas, guidelines. The Ten Commandments. Laying down the law. New resolutions. New pathways of living. Social justice messages. The Koran. The Torah. The Bible. Finding records. People of the book. The Ark of the Covenant. Newly codified laws. Amendments. The Testaments. Avatars and guides. Moses. Mt. Sinai. Legislation. Laws enacted. Legislation.
The Caution: Being told what to do. Believing that one has all the answers OR believing that someone else has all the answers. Rules set in stone. The statement “this is what’s going to happen”. Rigid application of dogmatic moral codes. Not having much regard for humanity.
On the world scene, we have the election of the new pope, with all the rules and regulations that that brings up. There are also numerous major investigations into the abuses of the church, particularly, but not limited to, the Catholic church. There's the sometimes rabid and out-of-control rules and regulations being foisted on the people, stripping away more and more personal liberties and the right of the individual to choose.
There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. Oscar Wilde
On a more personal level, this time shows the enactment of many new understandings and shifts. This is a time for somewhat 'undersea investigations', as Pisces can take us to different levels of experience; to understand and learn more and more about the meaning of existence.
Issues can come up as people make up their minds about how they want their life to be. We can find ourselves on either or both ends of this - we can be the ones making decisions, or, it could be that others make announcements leading to a new perspective on what is and what isn't possible in the future.
The Karmic Condition of this new Moon is Pisces 21: A Little White Lamb, A Child And A Chinese Servant
This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to provide care, safety and comfort to those who need it. The “Child” has a “Servant”; he is well looked after. He also has a “Little White Lamb”, an animal companion, one he can be with, hug and enjoy. It is natural to try and gain a physical awareness and in our early years it was the sense of touch that was initially satisfied. If you felt cradled and comfortable, you could grow knowing that all was safe and well. At times in your life you could find yourself in a place of privilege; cradled from those things that could hurt or challenge you, having someone to look after you. Conversely, you could be the one who’s always there for others, supporting and loving them regardless of who they are or where they’re from.
Keywords: Being protected by higher, more aware, energies. Privileges of money and social status. Helpers, servants. Care. Being watched over and watching over others. Children.
The Caution: Social incompatibility. Snobbery. Not having to grow up. Not taking responsibility. Acting the brat. Racial prejudice. The school of ‘hard knocks’.
The Quest Symbol (the degree following) this new Moon is Pisces 23: A Spiritualist Medium Giving A Seance.
Keywords: Spiritual channeling. A need to free up “stuck” or earthbound entities. Efforts to materialize things. Coming straight out with things. Giving voice to spirit. Tarot readings, clairvoyance and clairsentience. Things seen ahead of their time. Bringing messages from the other side. Contacting the dead.
The Caution: Putting on a false front. Merely doing a performance for others. Making things up. Using mind control over others to get a desired outcome. Using sensational methods to induce others to give up control over their own lives. Exorcisms performed by the inexperienced. Inviting weird energies or people.
This degree can bring a strong sense of perception, psychic breakthroughs and strong impressions. Sometimes, as always, the impressions can be misleading or challenging. It can be that we go to places that we really don't need to. It can also show not going deeply enough. It also signifies a strong time of being able to manifest what you want in life - to have the realisations and to make the affirmations and see the manifestations in the world around you.
Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, is on Pisces 4: Heavy Traffic Linking Two Seaside Resorts. This can indicate running back and forth, being stuck in traffic jams, lots of communications with phone calls, emails, conversations, etc. It can indicate a strong amount of nervous energy as one tries to be in all places at once - there can be a feeling of wanting to try new things, to fly off to new horizons.
This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to move about, to get from destination to destination in a free flowing manner. Driving or flying or in a bus; there’s lots of activity going on. There's also a need for space sharing, patience and give-and-take. People all have their own needs. This Symbol can show communications and linkages between separate worlds leading to increased pleasure OR frustration, confusion or psychic indigestion and the need for a holiday. There's a lot going on and confusion can set in if one doesn't follow the rules to ensure a smooth flow of operations. Being 'squeezed-in' can bring a sense of panic but it can also bring pleasurable interchange between people and a chance to tune out.
Keywords: Communications. Linking between separate worlds. Pleasure or psychic indigestion? Going with the flow. Cars, boats, planes, traveling. Traffic control. Nervous and digestive systems.
The Caution: Distrust of connecting elements. Creating barriers. Constant traffic. No real human interchange. Road rage. Traffic works. No time for leisure. Accidents. No escape.
This is quite a powerful time of decisions and announcements. The Moon's north node is nicely trine this new Moon, bringing many things into alignment, often with a sense of karmic insight or meaning.
The Moon's north node is on Scorpio 19: A Parrot Listening And Then Talking, Repeats A Conversation He Has Overheard.
This is another very interesting degree that can bring lots of insights, intuition and perspective to situations. There is a need, though, for being judicious in what you pay attention or listen to. Some things that we hear can lead us astray with innuendo or a misplaced word (or the perception of it). The north node being on this degree can show a huge opening up of so many people in so many ways as information comes through and to them, often when it's least expected.
Keywords: Transmitting information or knowledge. The need to integrate things into consciousness. Recorded messages. Answering and fax machines. Mumbling. Translators, birds, parrots, news reporters, stool pigeons. Telephone operators. Messages from strange places. Automated responses. New languages. Talking to animals. Talk back radio.
The Caution: Rote responses that are ill considered. “Towing the party line” without having any opinion of your own. Going over the same territory. Losing true meaning through repetition. Repeating without knowing the real meaning or purpose. Meaningless banter. Tunnel vision. Gossiping. Missing the essence of what’s being said. Not having a mind of one’s own. Brainwashing. Re-runs of the same old line. Broken records.
The "Parrot repeating" Symbol can also be about issues of having a mind that is not one's own, repeating the preferred line and not integrating what's really being said. Accurate and concise information is needed here. Emails and text messages cannot convey the true essense of what's being said, or, the nuances with which things are being said.
Some stories from the past no doubt need to be let go of as repeating them over and over doesn't really further unless some big realisations come along with it.
As the Moon's north node in Scorpio is trine this new Moon in Pisces, relationships can deepen, heal and align with a sense of meaning and understanding.
Venus is conjunct (together with) the new Moon and it, too, is trining the Moon's north node. This can work wonders to open new doors and pathways that enrich our lives and bring a sense of joy, purpose and power. Relationships can go through all kinds of changes.
The Sabian Symbol for Venus is Pisces 18: In A Huge Tent, A Famous Revivalist Conducts His Meeting With A Spectacular Performance. Messages or lessons given or received now can come through with a fairly strong push behind them now. What insights are you learning? Do you speak up in relationships or let the other person do all the talking? Having the floor to one's self can be fantastic, as long as there is a sharing of the space and the microphone. Even if you're not the one doing any public speaking or rousing others to action, there's a need for both teaching and learning, assessing and assimilating and soaking up what is coming through now.
This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to either hear or deliver important messages, decrees or rules for living, to make sense of the various details of spiritual instruction, to be able to see who’s an authority worth listening to, and, perhaps, who’s a charlatan. Seeing through false intentions or messages can be one of your talents. You may find that a need to organize and stage a display of the things you want to promote, teach or disseminate. This can bring a feeling of community togetherness in a common goal. This can, however, picture situations of hysteria or overstating one's case. There needs to be a feeling of moderation and the ability to listen as well as speak. With the power to influence or sway groups of people, there needs to be care and moderation. Is the audience listening? Is the cause just?
Keywords: Energy and inspiration. Having a lot to say. Evangelism. Whipped up emotions. Media circus. Instructional or dogmatic. Ecstasy. Loud voices. Mind control. Performing. Showmanship.
The Caution: Spiritualism for greedy financial gain. Big egos. Overblown feelings of abilities. Manipulation or exploitation. Controlling others. Bigotry. Getting worked up.
Going back over old issues, relationships, unfinished business and generally clearing the decks (or the need to) is shown by Mercury being retrograde. It goes direct on March 18. Here is another indication of the need to speak up, to be noticed, to sound the call.
The Symbol for Mercury at the new Moon is Pisces 8: A Girl Blowing A Bugle.
This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to sound the call, to rally people together, to know when to speak or “Blow her Bugle” to awaken others, to wake up to realities going on in the world, join some cause, etc. At times in your life, you are likely to feel the need to wake up those around you, and, at times, perhaps be woken yourself. When situations get bogged down in emotional or rational complexity and everyone just needs to be rallying and going for the objective, you may be the one to let everyone know. Sometimes this Symbol can show someone who makes a lot of noise; justified or unjustified and they can get people moving. Using simple, receptive innocence will get situations back on track.
Keywords: Sounding the call. Awakening all to action. Loudspeakers, telephones, announcements. Rise and shine! Leading the charge. Resurrection. Proclamations. Whistle blowers.
The Caution: Unwarranted and disturbing noise. Showing off. Trumpeting about oneself. Not listening to people. Being annoying. Interrupting. Betraying confidences. Loud voice.
So, this new Moon is a lot about making announcements, laying down rules, being clear about boundaries, etc. There are some issues to be worked out, possibly from the past or you're dealing with them now. Mercury stations on Pisces 7 for a number of days after the new Moon. This brings a chance to realign with a healing, to let go of situations, belongings or people, especially if you feel you've miss-placed your heart and your loyalties. Pisces 7 is A Cross Lying On Rocks Surrounded By Sea And Mist. This brings up the need to bring hope and faith and belief back to situations that may feel lost and perhaps hopeless or sad.
Saturn is forming a nice, free flowing trine from Scorpio to Mercury. This can bring discipline and decisions that can be grounded in reality. The trick is believing in yourself and feeling included (not excluded) from the goodies that life can bring. Saturn is on one of the four "Cinderella" degrees, which can bring about the feeling of being left at home, doing the drugery and the housework and not feeling perhaps "good enough" or "entitled" to be out with others, mixing it up and being with the movers and shakers. Saturn here can lead to alienation and loneliness, so perhaps it's time to slip on your best dress and your red shoes and to head out to have some fun social engagements.
Saturn is on Scorpio 12: A Brilliant Assembly Of Officials At An Embassy Ball - the trick is, if you're not invited to the ball, perhaps it's time to make your own opportunities for fun and making social connections. Saturn will soon retrograde back over Scorpio 11: A Drowning Man Is Being Rescued - perhaps it's time to signal that you're ready to be rescued - particularly from the drudgery of life and the routine that holds you in statis and not moving forward. Breathing deeply and filling yourself up with good energy can work wonders with this.
Jupiter, the planet of abundance, change and expansion, is squaring Mercury from Gemini 9: An Archer Stands With The Ease Of One Wholly Sure Of Himself, His Quiver Filled With Arrows.
This Symbol implies the ability of being able to take aim at something and achieving a bull’s eye, straight at the target. You need to be sure of what you want, to make sure your aim is true, arm yourself and then go after what you want. Your situation is one that requires skill, focus and knowledge of local conditions. There is no need to just rush forward hoping for the best, as this will only leave you feeling inadequate when you do find something. Compose yourself for a moment and realize that you have the ammunition and the sure marksmanship before taking aim and committing yourself.
Keywords: Make a strategy. Hit the target. Being armed and ready. Getting to the point. Accuracy and strength. Sending a message true and clear. Skills and confidence. Warriors.
The Caution: Going into battle unprepared. Overconfidence in a mission. Coming from a position of attack. Being trigger-happy. The thug. Being cocky, pushy and threatening.
Chiron, the Wounded Healer and The Stories We Tell Ourselves, is on Pisces 11: Men Travelling A Narrow Path, Seeking Illumination. This degree can show the need to stay (or to get) on your path, with an eye on the prize at the end of the tunnel. At times, it may feel like a lonely journey, but it seems that many others are with you on their own journeys.
Mars is leading the charge out of Pisces and into Aries. It's on Pisces 30: A Majestic Rock Formation Resembling A Face Is Idealized By A Boy Who Takes It As His Ideal Of Greatness, And As He Grows Up, He Begins To Look Like It.
This Symbol shows envisioning or deciding what you want to be and as you grow and develop, becoming that vision. The “Boy” of this Symbol lived in childhood under a hill figure of a president and when he grew up he became president himself. With applied focus, you may find that you are growing into the image that you have imagined and it can bring a sense of pride - assuming you have chosen a positive image. What or who do you “Idealize”? What is it that you'd like to become? What image would you like to project? Meditating on a goal or the projection of an ideal can lead to actuality. Just be clear about what you really desire in the situation - you just might get it.
Keywords: Manifestation of ideals. Enduring truths. Culmination of efforts. Image consultants. Projections. Desiring a sense of immortality. Defining one's fate. Conscious manifestation.
The Caution: Not being at all clear about who one is or can be. Becoming a screen for the projection of others ideals. Falling short of the mark. Shooting too far and achieving nothing.
Mars on this degree gives us a good opportunity to see how we're going on our quest and what shape and form and life we've taken on and are manifesting now. Mars is out of Pisces just hours after the exact new Moon and into Aries where it will meet up with Uranus about a week or so later. So, we are heading into another round of possibility with Mars about to climb ashore into Aries. This Symbol is amazing for working out what and where one wants to be and then working towards that. Mars then goes into Aries, and the pace starts to pick up.
Mars is on Aries 1: A Woman Emerges From The Ocean, A Seal Embraces Her.
The journey of a thousand leagues begins from beneath your feet. Lao Tzu
Keywords: Cycles starting. Beginnings. Emergence into concrete manifestation. Embracing and honoring the shadow. Recognizing our animal side. Tropical islands or lands. Rocky shores. Seals. Oceans and water. Shedding skins. Transmutation. The Selkie myth. Grounding one’s energy. Stepping between the sea and the shore. Androgyny. Love and its embrace. Finding your feet and your voice. Mermaids.
The Caution: Using masculine power to overshadow emotions. Refusing to move on. Feeling held back by fears and old life patterns. Falling back into previous, unsatisfactory conditions. Dragging others backwards. Immobilizing fear of the unknown. Being just another “fish in the sea”.
Uranus is on Aries 8: A Woman's Hat With Streamers Blown By The East Wind. This Symbol can shown changeability and being un anchored and adaptable, or, it can show feeling un moored and cast adrift. The trick is not to be blown around too much by events or fate. Feeling what's blowing in the wind and then being responsive to the prevailing trends and real possibilities can see you shifting to suit the moment, which is wonderful in many ways but it can lead to fickleness and impractical responses.
Allow life's wisdom to lead you to new and different solutions, but be wary of acting superficially. In deeper, spiritual messages you are afforded protection from the more disturbing elements of situations. You may need to adjust continually to outside forces, but you have the ability to be adaptable, so hang onto your center and what anchors you and try not to get blown off-course.
Keywords: Attuning oneself through eastern philosophies. Protective guidance. Balloons and hot air ballooning. The winds of time and change. Being aware of shifts in the wind.
The Caution: Only accepting solutions that satisfy selfish or social needs. Insincerity and easily blown around. Losing one's rudder. Continually getting off track.
Last, but not least, Pluto is on Capricorn 12: A Student Of Nature Lecturing, Revealing Little Known Aspects Of Life.
This degree shows the ability to be able to observe things that other people would miss. You can be an example to others for understanding the wonders of nature, with the ability to weave together issues to form a story, to be able to “Lecture”, to be able to inform others. Often, there’s a special talent around natural and alternative issues and it may be your job to show others the way or to teach them about nature or medicine or herbs or the like. In the past, too much weight was given to the artificial needs of society and now it’s time to redress the balance. Practical applications of knowledge can help people better understand their lives. Revealing the truth can lead to wonder and awe, but it also disbelief, it depends on messages are delivered.
Keywords: Observing and translating so others may enjoy. Green politics. Natural remedies. Science and its rewards and drawbacks. Whistle blowers. Conspiracy theories. Workshops.
The Caution: Radical non-humanistic views. Intellectual smugness. Lecturing people about their lives. Browbeating. Lip service to conservation values. Bashing ‘greenies’.
So, this new Moon is about bringing down some new laws and codes for being, laying boundaries, declaring what you want, setting off in new directions and listening to the messages your intuition is telling you.
