Hans

  • Hello Hans,

I was wondering if you could provide me with some guidance please. I have been trying to centre myself and concentrate on the positives instead of the negatives, but I can't seem to be strong enough to maintain it. I know I have the power inside of me, I am just having trouble reaching it. Your advice is appreciated.

  • ineedtomeditate,

I was wondering if you could provide me with some guidance please: choose the way of your heart.

Your advice is appreciated: Be receptive for gifts of existence.

    MASTER RYOTAN AND TOKUSAN WERE

    SPENDING THE EVENING TOGETHER.

RYOTAN SAID, "IT IS GETTING DARK. YOU HAD BETTER

    RETURN TO YOUR PLACE."

TOKUSAN SAID, "GOOD NIGHT" TO THE MASTER, AND

STEPPED OUTSIDE. A FEW MOMENTS LATER, HE RETURNED

TO THE MASTER SAYING, "IT IS SO DARK OUTSIDE!"

THE MASTER LIT A CANDLE TO GIVE TO TOKUSAN, BUT

JUST AS TOKUSAN HELD OUT HIS HAND AND WAS ABOUT TO

GET HOLD OF THE CANDLE, RYOTAN VEHEMENTLY BLEW OUT

    THE FLAME.

AT THIS VERY MOMENT TOKUSAN WAS AWAKENED AND MADE

    A BOW TO THE MASTER.

  • Thanks for replying.

Do you mean my heart instead of my head?

I didn't really get the story either.

  • ineedtomeditate,

Do you mean my heart instead of my head? No.

God is constantly searching for His people. Since

Adam left He has been calling and calling. He still

goes on calling and He still comes and knocks. But we

are hiding. And we have created such barriers, we have

created such mental attitudes that we cannot see, we

    cannot hear, we cannot feel.

  • "Do you mean my heart instead of my head? No." - then what do you mean? From my spirit/heart and not emotions?

I'm trying to break through the barriers that I have created. I am trying to meditate daily, hoping it will get easier with practise. At certain points when I feel a connection, I feel a warmth/ and a timgling in my hands, do you know what this means?

Thank you for helping me Hans.

  • ineedtomeditate,

then what do you mean? The power of the inferior people is growing. The danger draws close to you; already there are clear indications, and rest is disturbed. Moreover, in this dangerous situation you are as yet without help or friendly advances from above or below. Extreme caution is necessary in this isolation. You must adjust to the time and promptly avoid the danger. Stubborn perseverance in maintaining your standpoint would lead to downfall.

From my spirit/heart and not emotions? Yes.

At certain points when I feel a connection, I feel a warmth/ and a timgling in my hands, do you know what this means? This is the arising of being in love, establishing a contact with the universe, besides that you seem to have healing hands.

You have taken a wrong step; you have to put it

right. My feeling is that for a few days you stop all

kinds of music, forget all about it. A gap is needed so

that your mind can become dissociated.

    Then

you will have the joy; otherwise you will be doing it

    and it will be worthless.

  • Thank you Hans. I've been trying to make more time for myself, be kinder and nicer to myself. That then should help me build up more self love which should build into universal love. Thanks again.

  • I forgot to ask, by saying "You have taken a wrong step; you have to put it

right. My feeling is that for a few days you stop all

kinds of music, forget all about it. A gap is needed so

that your mind can become dissociated.

    Then

you will have the joy; otherwise you will be doing it

    and it will be worthless"

did you mean to take time out for myself, remove myself from situations to give my mind a chance to recuperate? And only then can it get stronger?

And you said " Stubborn perseverance in maintaining your standpoint would lead to downfall."

Do you mean if I continue down the same path without any changes? Because I am trying to change that now.

    Thanks Hans

  • ineedtomeditate,

did you mean to take time out for myself, remove myself from situations to give my mind a chance to recuperate? no.

And only then can it get stronger? no.

Do you mean if I continue down the same path without any changes? No.

If you go on repeating a lie you will end up believing it. Constant repetition becomes hypnotic. In India it has been one of the basic laws that one should not start teaching people unless one becomes inwardly totally silent. When dreams have stopped, only then should one start advising anybody. If you still have dreams don’t advise anybody, because you are still in a state of dreaming. Your advice is of no use, you will create more mischief and misery for others. If somebody follows your advice he will be in danger.

  • I don't really want to advise anyone, I just want to be at peace with myself. I thought one of the nest ways to do that would be through meditation. Sometimes I feel as if my own mind is against me, and that's what I'm trying to soothe and calm down. I'm not lying about anything.

  • ineedtomeditate,

the creative people -- whether painters, musicians,

poets or dancers -- reach to a place once in a while

that can be called "a glimpse of enlightenment" but it

is only a glimpse. It is not a realization. They have

not prepared themselves for it. It has come

    accidentally.

The painter was absorbed in painting. He was so

absorbed in painting that he forgot himself, forgot the

ego, forgot his thoughts, and without knowing it he was

in a state of meditation, and accidentally a door

opened and he saw the beauty of the beyond.

But because he is not prepared, he cannot remain in

meditation. He does not even know the ABC of

meditation; he may never have heard the word. He was

doing something else. It was just because he got lost

in his work -- in dance, in music, in singing -- he

fulfilled the condition for a glimpse.

Soon he will be back -- when the dance is over, when

the painting is complete, he will be back in the desert

of daily life. And he will be worse than the ordinary

man because he has known something which the ordinary

man has not even dreamt of. His misery is more. He has

seen the door open, he has seen the door closed, and he

    feels utterly helpless.

Now a great problem has arisen for him, that there is

something far more beautiful than any painting, far

more musical than any music, far more poetic than any

poetry. There is a dance beyond dance, but how to reach

there? All that he can manage is his ordinary dance. In

his ordinary dance, if he becomes conscious that he's

doing it to get the glimpse back, he will not get the

glimpse because the condition will not be fulfilled, he

will not be lost in the dance. Technically he will be

doing the dance but his ego will remain watching for

the window to open; it will not open. It will open only

    when he forgets himself.

The problem is that this situation has been only in

the West, not in the East.

The East is poor, immensely poor, but in a way

tremendously rich. In the East if the poet or the

painter or the musician had the glimpse, he would not

bother about the dance or the painting, he would look

for a master, because it is understood -- it is in the

atmosphere, and it has been there for thousands of

years -- that creativity can give you a glimpse but not

more than that. If you want something that becomes part

and parcel of you, then you have to find a master, a

path; you have to change yourself, your ways of living.

You have to bring awareness to everything that you do,

and you need somebody to tell you -- not only to tell

you, but somebody whose presence becomes a proof that

you are not chasing some shadow, some hallucination.
