  • Scholars believe she was formed in ancient Greece by Alexandros of Antioch, a wandering artist who worked on commission and was known for winning singing and music-writing contests – sort of the Greek Idol of his day. Now he’s most famous for this rendering of Venus, which was first thought to have been created by the master sculptor Praxiteles.
